Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer, consultant, speaker, columnist syndicated writer, author and television personality. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. One of the show's first "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in the entire 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until today. In February 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, the most significant being a $350,000 investment which was able to cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was second in a family of 10 kids, and was raised in Edgewater.  Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's early years. Her family was sometimes dependent on the food provided by a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran recalls that her father was an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially after the fact that he was drinking. Corcoran struggled with her education and was diagnosed with dyslexia. She attended the local Catholic elementary school and started high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran was proficient in a variety of classes during her first year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
