Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. She is the first woman to be elected vice president, and is also the most powerful female officer in the history of America. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general for California from 2011 to 2017 and an United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General for California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for reforms to healthcare, federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a pathway towards citizenship for immigrants without a legal status, the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. She was well-known for her direct questioning of Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
